Last week I visited a good friend with whom I used to work together until last year. We stayed in contact after I moved to another job and see each other quite regularly still! She has a little daughter who is like a mini-her. When she was born, I knitted her a little hat (she was born in the year of the horse).
Of course the little hat does not fit her anymore (she grew out of it within weeks). I also gave her mother a knitted present for her birthday a couple of years ago. It was my first version of my Rapunzel Crescent design, in lucky red.
Well, when I visited last week, my friend told me that the scarf had been confiscated by her little girl. One day, when they were putting on their coats to go for a walk, her daughter pointed up to the scarf, because she wanted to wear that. My friend let her, but did explain that it was hèr scarf, not the little girl’s. But her daughter was not so easily persuaded. She persevered, saying “mine”, and since then my friend is scarf-less…
I decided to knit my friend something else, and it is finished now. It’s the Three Wishes cowl by Lily Go. Last year it was published as a short MKAL in the week before Christmas. It is a quick, fun knit, and the result is quite nice too! When I see my friend again next month I will give the cowl to her.
