Starting green

Recently I haven’t been drawing as much (because I was knitting more), but I did start a new painting yesterday. Working with the easel and daylight lamp is kind of nice, but not entirely good yet, because the lamp is standing straight up and my own shadow tends to get in the way (and my pastels are in the dark or in a differently coloured light – not good!). So, basically I need to get a lamp that I can put on top of the easel (and then put my daylight lamp bulb into that). That should help, I think.

Anyway, I still did draw a little (and I’m planning on doing more tomorrow when I have a day off). It’s the rough sketch for another cityscape with water. This one has more (and more interesting) boats, and I think I can make it nice. I’m still pondering on colours. I like realism, but not too much, and want to be more free in the colours I choose – but they should still work. I also want to use different techniques to blend – not just using my finger, but also by painting patterns that blend together from a distance.
