On Ravelry I’ve lately been participating in some swaps. This means, that you put together a package with gifts for someone else, and another person does the some for you. Sometimes there’s a theme, but you always stalk your partner (check their profile, posts, etcetera), to find out what they like.
I participated in a red swap, an envelope swap (where everything has to fit into one envelope), a bag swap (this one was the most fun until now), and at the moment I’m doing a “Vrijetijdsswap” (Dutch) and a classical composer swap. Most swaps are international, so you get tons of interesting and fun foreign stuff. However, the high postage costs are a disadvantage.

Yesterday my Canadian spoilee received my package in the bag swap, and she was so happy with it that it made my day as well! It’s so much fun to give (to receive as well, but there’s so much joy in making someone else happy)! Which brings me to rakking. A RAK is a random act of kindness. You send something you don’t need or use anymore to someone who is looking for it. You don’t expect anything in return. That way, you make someone’s day and you don’t throw good stuff away. I’ve sent and received a couple of RAKs already, and it’s a lot of fun! Ravelry is a special and close community, with a lot of very kind people!
